  • Job Purpose:

Clearly articulating DeJoule development roadmap (short medium and long term) and product management process.

  • Getting existing SJPL resources trained in product management.
  • Evaluate the current development and deployment strategy of SJPL BMS system after visiting SJPL client sites and conducting a detailed analysis of our BMS system.
  • Enabling partnerships for various aspects for Smart Joules like DeJoule sales, grants and proposals, international partnerships etc.

Accountability Cluster Major Activities / Tasks
  • Manage project scrum teams and coach teams to implement agile project management methodologies involved in delivery of DeJoule 
  • Responsible for setting up and tracking timeframes and milestones, reporting on progress, and coordinating team communication.
  • Facilitates daily stand-up, iteration planning, sprint review, and iteration retrospective.
  • Anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend mitigations and solutions. Own and drive those solutions.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to the team to encourage adoption of good agile practices.
  • Develops/manages plans and oversees execution of cross-functional development projects utilizing a hybrid of Agile and iterative SDLC.
  • Facilitate defining product backlog, release backlog, estimations, manage and track team capacity and velocity to ensure timely and successful completion of releases.
  • Resolve project execution issues and involve release backlog, team as needed.
  • Use Jira to track work (features, user stories, defects) and release scope.
  • To act as a Product Owner, in certain exceptional situations, and should understand the customer requirements, and also have a vision for the value the scrum team is delivering to the stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and eliminate impediments and facilitate the product deliverables
  • Ensuring that timely updates of the program are rolled out and an efficient product pipeline and product feature lineups are maintained.
  • Ensuring the troubleshooting measures are deployed in an effective manner.
  • Ensuring timely updates and bug fixes/troubleshooting for effectively minimizing the technical deficit for the future.
  • Responsible to balance the needs of other stakeholders in the organization.
  • Partner with stakeholders in the organization to ensure their feedback is incorporated and seamless working of the product solution on ground
  • Proactive and ongoing liaison with internal customers on the product like Operations team, Analytics & Automation team, BMS team etc to know the on-ground feedback and challenges and incorporate the same to make the product reliable, effective and running as per expectations.
  • Have a governance mechanism to troubleshoot and resolve on ground queries across the product value chain.
  • Organize training sessions to update necessary team members on the product features, common breakdown challenges, how to derive the maximum from the solution.
  • Facilitate proper communication with each stakeholder (internal and external) and create an environment in which the team is continuously learning.
  • Ensure effective project communication, provide regular updates to management team.
  • Managing relationships and communication with all project stakeholders by conducting regular scrum meetings with the team members.
  • Establish strong working relationships with partner teams across the organization to identify dependencies and align priorities and deliverables
  • Responsible for training and upgradation of the existing Product Development Team
  • Understand the existing technical gaps in the team members and also future capabilities we need to build in the team
  • Partner with internal HR team to create the skill upgradation roadmap for the team
  • Partner with external Subject matters to have ongoing upgradation and learning sessions for the team

  • Skills & Qualifications:

Years of experience
  • 6-10 years of overall experience as a Product Owner as well as a Software Developer and have a hands-on experience in client-relationship management.
  • Worked as a Software Developer during the initial 3-4 years of his/her career.
Educational Qualifications
  • B.Tech/ B.E.
  • B.Sc. (Computer Science)
  • Product Management Certification and, or Scrum Master Certification is preferred.
Core/Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience with project management and team leadership.
  • Sound knowledge of scrum/agile tools – Jira in particular.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile procedures to predict the development teams’ needs.
  • Strong knowledge of different communication protocol like RS485 (Modbus), BACnet, LONwork, LAN, Ethernet, etc.
  • Knowledge about products, services, people working on Agile methodologies and Sprint Planning.
  • Prior exposure in Embedded IOT cloud-based products
Tools & Systems
  • Sound knowledge of scrum/agile tools – Jira in particular
  • MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Leadership – inspire team buy-in by articulating a clear vision, keep morale up by ensuring team members have the resources they need, and resolve inner-team conflicts if any
  • Clear Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, leaders, and stakeholders, basis the audience. The what and how for different stakeholders could be different. Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical terms
  • Judgment and Decision Making – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
